We were recently interviewed by Rangefinder Magazine regarding the post-production process for our clients. Every photography studio manages their processes differently. Some photographers choose to be entirely hands-on and manage and process all of their images. Other photographers choose to focus on shooting and delegating their post-production to an assistant or a lab. My solution has been somewhere right in the middle where I deliver more complex edits to my assistant and an online lab, and oversee, manage, and finalize the finished results. It has been the perfect combination of ensuring the quality of my work while maintaining an incredibly fast delivery time for my clients.

I jumped for joy when superstar wedding designer Misty Damico with Luxe Event Productions approached me with a unique opportunity to collaborate. Misty wanted to challenge herself and her team and all of us who worked together to conceptualize, design, build, and document a series of tablescapes in rapid succession. The concept is similar to when a jazz musician improvises or a creative writer free writes.
The idea is to create without inhibition. Push yourself. Try something new. Try something different. Be bold. Take risks and see what happens. That is exactly what we did!
We setup 3 different work stations, intended to create a variety of different looks and feels, and Misty began to work her magic. Watching her work is like watching the excitement of a little kid in a toy store. What if we do this? Then add this? Let’s get candles over here and some bolder colors over there. One of our favorite florists Jordan with Blum Floral Design worked feverishly alongside Misty drumming up beautiful floral arrangements and accents to coincide with the design. Within minutes, Misty would declare, “Table number 1 is ready to be photographed!” and would immediately begin working on the next table. I would step in and begin documenting table number 1 and hear Misty say, “Table 2 is now ready!”
Misty’s collaboration was an absolute blast and certainly a creative challenge for all of us involved. It was an honor to gain some insights into her design process and creative thinking.
A special thanks to Lisa with Crave Design for sharing some of her wedding invitations, table markers, menus, and place cards for the project. Her creative vision and unique designs are highly sought after in the wedding industry so having her work on hand was especially rewarding. A special thanks also goes out to Barclay Event Rentals for allowing us an entire day of creative play with their extensive collection of rentals. The end result is a wonderful improvisational free write by a masterful wedding designer, an exceptional florist, an incredible invitation designer, and a very humble photographer.
We are extremely excited to announce that Junebug Weddings has featured a selection of 5 tablescapes on their blog from this creative endeavor. Make sure to check out the feature. We have posted some of those images along with a few others below.
A behind-the-scenes view from this collaborative project.
We are extremely excited to see our work from a stylized photo shoot featured on Style Unveiled today. Valentine’s Day is the perfect day to celebrate Radiant Orchid (Pantone Color of the Year for 2014).
Radiant Orchid possesses rosy undertones that radiate on the skin. The color represents creativity, uniqueness, and innovation. When paired with shades of lavender, purples, and pinks, the hue takes on a seductive quality. All of these features make Radiant Orchid the perfect color inspiration for weddings.
There is a tremendous amount of work and effort that goes into producing a stylized photo shoot and I would like to personally thank all of the vendors who participated and made this possible:

Madison’s Cinderella themed 5th birthday party bash is featured on The Life of the Party today. Her birthday party included princess costumes for all the guests, hand made princess wands, a “real-life” Cinderella who read all the children “The Princess and the Pea,” as well as a Cinderella castle cake!
After playing games, listening to story time, and eating princess snacks, Madison and all of her friends were treated to mini manicures. Check out the feature on The Life of the Party to see highlights from this fairy tale birthday party.

Looking for vendors in your local area? Style Unveiled is one of our favorite online resources for all things wedding. Make sure to check them out! And, they feature some of the most hip and stylish weddings around. In fact, Style Unveiled recently featured Alix & Ryan’s wedding at The Aerie at Eagle Landing.
To see the feature and view highlights from Alix & Ryan’s wedding, make sure to check out their Portland wedding.
Alix offers up some great advice to brides and has this to say about choosing us to document her wedding day:
“During the process of looking through many, many local photographers online, I came across a few wedding photos from Paul Rich Studios. Among the nearly 50 photographers I looked at, Paul Rich’s work stood out to me the most due to the color, clarity and overall composition of his photos. Once we met with Paul, I decided right away that he was the right photographer for our wedding due to his professionalism, laid back style and his ability to listen to the details that we wanted in the photos for our wedding. We couldn’t be happier with the results of the photos from our wedding and we are so appreciative of Paul and his hard work, dedication and great attitude on that very long and crazy day :)”
