Henry and his family gathered at Congregation Beth Israel for some family portraits prior to Henry’s Bar Mitzvah ceremony. The weather was particularly nice so we made sure to capture some portraits outdoors in addition to the more traditional portraits captured at the Bima.
The evening festivities were held at SuperPlay. Talk about an extraordinarily fun evening for the kids – bowling, arcade games, and the wildly popular laser tag. Henry and all his guests had virtual free reign over the place running from activity to activity throughout the evening while the parents got to hang out and mingle at the bar. The photo booth and candy bar were popular items during the evening and everyone gathered to watch a slideshow about Henry that was played on all the televisions and screens including those over the bowling alley. It was a very fun evening and many of the guests even got to come away with fun prizes and candy from turning in their game tickets.
When Stacey with Red Shoe Productions contacted us to document The Hatter’s Easter Eggstravaganza at the Aerie at Eagle Landing, we knew that we were in for quite a treat. We have worked with Red Shoe Productions on a number of events and Stacey and her team always put together the most successful events. She specializes in creating interactive experiences for events, corporations, non-profits and weddings that always engage the guests and leave a lasting impression.
Take for example, the Easter Eggstravaganza where guests were treated to a number of fun activities ranging from wild creations from a balloon artist to creative face paintings. Event Team Entertainment provided 2 separate photo booth options and plenty of arts and crafts tables and supplies were available for all. Rojo the Llama and Napoleon the Alpaca were huge hits with the kids as were the giant inflatable bounce houses as well. Fifty Licks Ice Cream, Miss Hannah’s Popcorn, and Nineteen27 S’mores were just some of the many vendors present.
To really top things off though, the big crescendo to the event was having the Easter Bunny arrive by helicopter. Families gathered around to watch him land in an open field and work his way to the party. It was a huge celebration with hundreds and hundreds of families participating in the event. Shortly after the Easter Bunny arrived, various egg hunts took place for children of all ages. Thanks to all the vendors for making the event such a smashing success and to Red Shoe Productions for making it all happen.
Having the opportunity to photograph Isabelle’s Bat Mitzvah celebration was certainly quite the treat. The morning began with some portraits with family members at Congregation Beth Israel and concluded with an epic party celebration at Irving Street Kitchen in the evening.
Isabelle’s guests were treated to a festive evening filled with all sorts of entertainment and fun. The table settings included numerous selfie-sticks for the guests and an area was set aside for henna artists Half Moon Henna, a couple of caricaturists from Barbara Pikus Caricatures, and the HappyMatic Photo Booth. DJ Max Barenberg with Blackboard Music had the crowd out on the dance floor all night long. This was also due in part to an incredible candy bar overflowing with candy treats from Sweets, Etc.
Izze Sodas were the signature drink of the evening for those under 21 with an assortment of cocktails made available at the bar for the adults. Isabelle’s friends and family members gave some incredible speeches and later broke into song while Isabelle and various family members played the guitar and sang along.
The entire day was a fun celebration of Isabelle and all her accomplishments. Here are some of our favorite images from her recent Bat Mitzvah celebration:
Ever wonder what goes on behind-the-scenes with vendors from the wedding industry? Well, truth be told… We like to party!
Our great friends Cindy (with Encore Events) and Sean (with My Bartender) teamed up to host a joint 50th Birthday Party Celebration. Sean’s new event space District East is the perfect location for this type of event and is where the event was hosted. Guests were treated to an incredible spread by Wild Currant Catering with additional dishes brought by various friends. Kay with Flowers For You provided all the floral decor while Barclay Event Rentals provided all the rentals. David Efaw Productions provided DJ and lighting services for the evening.
Invitations to the event were created by Lisa with Crave Design and signage throughout the event was created by Alesia Zorn Calligraphy. It was so fun to see so many vendors from the wedding industry and to have an opportunity to step away from our respective businesses and catch up. We oftentimes see each other in passing at weddings and events and this most recent birthday celebration was the perfect opportunity to re-connect.
In lieu of birthday presents, guests were asked to bring toys and food for pets to be donated to Animal Aid here in Portland.
Another amazing event conceived, coordinated, and accomplished by a great team of wedding vendors. It was an honor as part of Paul Rich Studio to document the festivities.
I met Cherie about 10 years ago at a wedding networking event and recall the frequent conversations we had about the wedding industry. Cherie has a real passion for weddings and for assisting brides in realizing the vision for their day.
In 2009, Cherie founded Wedding Network USA in hopes of improving the wedding industry through providing resources, support, and education for wedding professionals. Through sharing business expertise, educational topics, and networking, Cherie has worked diligently to bring the Portland wedding community and other communities nationally closer together.
So, having known Cherie through a variety of capacities within the wedding industry, it was an exceptional honor to have the opportunity to document her 40th anniversary celebration with her husband Pat and many of their closest friends and family members. It was a great opportunity for a number of wedding vendors to take a break from wedding season and celebrate this momentous occasion together with someone who has been so instrumental in building the local wedding community.
Cherie and Pat hosted the event at their lovely home which is chock full of Pat’s incredible art pieces. He is a true artist who dabbles in a number of different types of media and styles of art. His process is unique and quite diverse. It was a pleasure seeing his work and learning about his thought processes in creating a number of pieces that were on display inside and outside of the home.
As it is with any type of event, a number of vendors and individuals work together to make the whole thing go. And we had the privilege to once again work with a number of people who we have worked with time and time again over the years. Cindy with Encore Events, assisted by Tilly of Dorsey McLeod Events, coordinated the afternoon of festivities. Doug with Wild Currant Catering kept all of us well fed and Debra Watkins assembled the most incredible display of desserts. Kelsie rocked the bar and surprisingly didn’t have to cut anyone off. First Comes Love created the invitations for the event and Barclay Event Rentals provided all the rentals. A total of 3 wedding celebrants officiated the vow renewal ceremony – Maureen Haley, Melissa Coe, and Steve Sharp. And naturally Paul Rich Studio had the honor of documenting the celebration.
Congratulations to Cherie & Pat on 40 wonderful years together. Here are some of our favorite highlights from their 40th anniversary celebration.
Marco’s Cafe & Espresso Bar is a wonderful restaurant nestled in the heart of Multnomah Village. Marco’s has an incredible breakfast menu, an ever changing list of lunch and dinner specials, fresh salads, sandwiches, and plenty of vegetarian options for all. The desserts are phenomenal too.
We recently had an opportunity to meet up with Brian McElmeel (Marco’s Executive Chef) to document a handful of options that are available at the restaurant. If you are still working on your holiday shopping, Multnomah Village is a wonderful place to visit. Shops like Peachtree Gifts and many others offer an array of unique gifts that will satisfy anyone on your list. While there, swing by Marco’s Cafe & Espresso Bar to complete your trip.
