It is safe to say that Allison is fully immersed in the world of social media. She is an avid Tweeter (or is it Twitterer) and is a frequent visitor of blogs in addition to managing a few of her own. She is the assistant editor to DiabetesMine and also manages her own personal blog called Lemonade Life where she chronicles her life as a 20-something living with diabetes. Given her propensities toward social media, it only made sense that she found us through Style Me Pretty (one of our all-time favorite wedding blogs).
Allison and Erik currently reside in New York so all of their wedding planning occurred from afar. With email, Twitter, and Facebook, we had no problems keeping in touch. Allison and Erik were married on July 9, 2011 at the Abernethy Center. The weather was absolutely fantastic and thanks to the work of Mandi and her assistant from Champagne Wedding & Events, the day flowed seamlessly and nothing was rushed.
There were so many unique personalized elements to the day the most notable of which was a customized pocket to hold Allison’s insulin pump. She writes all about it on DiabetesMine in an article titled Diabetes on My Wedding Day. Allison and Erik also clearly had a vision for their wedding day – one which incorporated rustic yet stylistic details. From the centerpieces and chalkboards made out of wood rounds to the well wishes tree and signature drinks (Sweet Tea Vodka & Lemonade was a HUGE hit), everything was well thought out and executed. One of my favorite details was the pie table. Fresh handmade pies were provided by Random Order Coffeehouse & Bakery and provided a true taste of the Northwest. Yet another fun detail was the entertainment provided by Fliptography. This incredibly innovative evolution of the photobooth concept records seven seconds of “photobooth like action.” Then, just moments later, you have a flipbook of your performance in hand.
