Something Borrowed | Lounge Packages

Something Borrowed is a Portland, OR based event design and specialty rental company that I have worked with for many years.  Their unique pieces add a lot of personality and character to any wedding or event and their collection keeps growing and growing.  They have recently expanded into a 5,000+ square foot warehouse space that is filled from floor to ceiling with incredible rental offerings.

Lane’s most recent development in her business is the announcement of lounge packages.  These are lounge areas that are created and styled as a package.  They take out the guess work of trying to determine which items pair best together.  Her creative team has put these packages together and have officially launched the new concept on their website.

If you or anyone you know is planning a wedding or event, make sure to check out Lane’s extensive rental collection at Something Borrowed.  Check out some of her pieces and design aesthetic below.  We had the chance to team up together at our photography studio to stage and document each new package offering.

Mai & Blake | August 13, 2016

This past summer was extremely busy for us with weddings and other various photography assignments.  It prevented us from blogging as frequently as we normally do in favor of making sure our clients received their images as quickly as possible.  Now that we are caught up with our assignment work, we are now catching up on blogging our recent work.

Mai and Blake were married at the Gray Gables Estate in August of this year.  The day was very warm and we made every effort to keep the couple and their guests as cool as possible.  We made sure to capture portraits with family members in the shade and made sure to take many breaks as needed to remain fresh and comfortable.

One of my favorite things to do at a wedding is to gather all the guests around the newlywed couple immediately following their wedding ceremony.  Everyone gathers around and I typically climb a small sized ladder to gain a higher perspective looking down on the crowd.  It is a great keepsake from the wedding day for couples to have a photo with all of their wedding guests.  As soon as the image is captured, guests continue on to cocktail hour to mingle and enjoy the rest of the afternoon and evening.  We headed inside for the wedding reception and enjoyed capturing all of the events as they unfolded throughout the day.

Here are a number of highlights from Mai and Blake’s wedding at the Gray Gables Estate.

Urban Styled Family Portraits

Know who has some of the greatest ideas and sense of style?  Misty with Luxe Event Productions.

Misty and her seasoned team of event planners coordinate and execute some of the most creative and stylish wedding events, shows, and parties in town.  Her work pops up everywhere and is recognized by vendors all throughout the industry.

When Misty contacted us to capture some maternity photos at Hotel deLuxe, we were absolutely thrilled by the opportunity to work with her yet again, but this time on a more personal project.  From that moment, we planned a series of additional sessions to be captured during her daughter’s first year.  We had the opportunity to capture little Miss D at our photography studio within weeks of her birth and most recently in downtown Portland for her 9 month session.  Nothing makes you aware of how quickly time flies than when capturing a baby’s first year.  Oftentimes by the time we connect for the first year it seems like just weeks ago that I was photographing their newborn session.

We will be connecting again just prior to the holidays for a family session at home and then again in early January for Miss D’s first birthday party.  I cannot wait to capture those iconic images of Little Miss D eating her birthday cake.  I know for certain that while I am at the party, it will feel like weeks ago that I was in my studio capturing her newborn session.

Misty put together the concept and styling for this incredibly fun urban styled family portrait session.  We met at my portrait studio in NW Portland and began photographing right away.  The buildings and views that are available at my studio are perfect for this type of photo session.  From there we went to NW 23rd where the fall colors were fully in bloom and then from there headed down to the Portland Art Museum for some additional portraits at the Park Blocks and surrounding areas.  Here are a handful of our favorite images from this urban styled portrait session in downtown Portland.

Nice, love them all

SE Waterfront Family Portraits

The SE Waterfront area in Portland is a great location to capture family portraits.  The location offers some of the best views of the Portland skyline.  We photographed Vicki & Nick’s wedding at the Lan Su Chinese Garden back in 2011 and have since captured them and their family on a number of occasions.  It is one of our favorite things about being a wedding photographer – having that continued relationship over the years and getting to be a part of so many people’s lives.

You can tell from the sunny weather that these images were captured a few months ago – and it is true – our studio has been so unbelievably busy that our blogging and social media efforts have waned quite a bit over years past.  Our goal is to always provide the quickest turnaround times on our work and that oftentimes means less time for staying on top of sharing our work with everyone.  But, as we head into the holiday season and wrap up everyone’s family sessions, we are able to slowly turn our focus back toward catching up on our blogging and social media efforts.  So, with that being said, expect to see lots of blog posts this month and stay tuned for our annual Favorite Images of the Year.

For the time being, enjoy these highlights from a recent SE Waterfront family portrait session.

Stylized Professional Headshot

Sometimes a stylized professional headshot is the way to go to best represent yourself and to set yourself apart from others.  Brian contacted me asking for a more unique style of professional headshot for his voice over work.  Brian sent me a few samples of the type of look he was wanting to achieve both in lighting and tonality.  He wanted something that was a bit darker, less traditional, and that felt more like a creative portrait than a traditional headshot.  So, we went to work at the studio.

I really enjoy working and collaborating with other creative types to assist them in realizing their vision for their business.  As I captured images of Brian, I shared them with him during the session so that we could fine tune the exact look he wanted to achieve.  I recommended that he wear darker tones for the stylized professional headshot session and then I customized my lighting style to create a more dramatic and memorable shot.  Brian intends to use the image for his newly updated website.

We offer traditional and non-traditional professional headshots that fit the style and aesthetic of whatever your line of business is in.  From realtors and architects to creatives and small business owners, our goal is to create a professional headshot for you to use to help promote your business.
