Any couple who chooses to have their wedding on a ship is bound to have a unique experience. It was no different for Teresa and Mike who hosted their wedding on the Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler.
The authentic triple-deck paddle wheeler sets sail from Marine Park at Cascade Locks and provides stunning 360 degree views of the Columbia River Gorge as it makes its way down the river. After the couple was married on the bow of the ship, we headed up to the captain’s room to sign the marriage license. Captain Tom Cramblett turned over the reigns of the ship and allowed the couple to sail the vessel for awhile. With nothing more than a couple of handles and a bunch of random nautical instrumentation, Teresa and Mike went for it and skillfully navigated the Sternwheeler.
I love weddings like these that provide guests with a unique experience and an incredible view of the Northwest. We truly live in one of the most beautiful states in the country and there are so many opportunities to showcase that beauty in the venue that is selected. For Teresa & Mike, the Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler was the perfect choice. For others, it is places like Timberline or Mt Hood Bead & Breakfast for the spectacular view of Mt Hood, Surfsand Resort for the beautiful ocean views at Cannon Beach, or any number of hip urban downtown locations ranging from The Ace Hotel to Pure Space.
Teresa & Mike’s wedding was an absolute blast and a memorable experience for everyone. Here are some highlights from their intimate wedding aboard the Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler:
