Maternity Session | April & Colby

April & Colby were referred to us by Lindsay & JR for their maternity and newborn sessions.  We are extremely excited to be working with them and cannot wait for the arrival of their little one who is due in mid-September.

April & Colby are currently building a new home in Bend, OR and with the upcoming addition to their family, they are quite busy!  I recently had an opportunity to catch up with the two of them for a maternity session.

We will be posting highlights from the newborn session in just a few months.

Downtown Portland | Engagement Session

I am extremely honored to have the opportunity to photograph Helen & Toni’s wedding at Perryhill Farm on August 17th.  We are now officially just weeks away!

I caught up with Helen & Toni recently for their downtown Portland engagement session.  They were looking for something a bit more hip and urban.  My recommendation was to meet over by Portland Saturday Market and bop around town in my car selecting a handful of different locations.  What I liked about this approach is the incredible variety of backdrops we were able to use.  Our photo session took us to The Pearl District, The Lan Su Chinese Garden, Forest Park and many other descript and non-descript locations.

The end result is a really nice selection of images of Helen & Toni enjoying some time together and exploring a more unique side of Portland.

Nancy & James | July 13, 2013

The headline for Nancy & Jimmy’s wedding might read, “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…”  Although, the couple got married very recently.  The ceremony and reception were held at the Governor Hotel in downtown Portland.

Cindy with Encore Events was the wedding coordinator and Cloud City Garrison, a Star Wars Imperial costuming club, provided Stormtroppers and other figures from Star Wars as an incredibly unique form of entertainment.

Just as Nancy & Jimmy kissed for the first time, a set of Stormtroppers kicked open the door and marched up to the alter to escort the couple out of the room. Guests erupted in laughter while the DJ played the Imperial March.  It was an incredibly memorable event.

Then, as guests made their way to cocktail hour, various Star Wars figures stood guard. It made for a perfect photo opportunity and an extremely fun cocktail hour. Paparazzi Tonight added additional entertainment by offering various costumes and props for the guests too.

Congratulations to Nancy & Jimmy and thank you to all the vendors for making the event a smashing success.  Thank you Ashley Forrette for rocking out with me on this wedding.

Roisin & Luis | July 6, 2013

Just a couple of days after the 4th of July holiday, Roisin & Luis officially tied the knot at St Mary’s Cathedral in downtown Portland.  Guests were then transported to the beautifully scenic Youngberg Hills Vineyard for the wedding reception.

The day began at Roisin’s parents house where all the women were getting ready.  Roisin’s grandmother was off in a side room busily stitching the wedding date inside of Roisin’s wedding dress while the bride and her bridesmaids got ready in the living room.  Tiffany with Couture Bride did the hair and makeup.

During the wedding ceremony, I setup a remote system where I was able to plant an additional camera up in the balcony and trigger it from the main floor below.  The interior of St Mary’s is absolutely stunning and the perfect location for capturing wide sweeping views.

Youngberg Hills Vineyard was beautifully staged for the wedding reception.  Bistro tables dotted the landscape and vintage chandeliers hung from inside the main tented area.  Live music was played by DesignBand so you knew the party was going to carry on well into the evening.  These guys are the absolute best in getting everyone out on the dance floor having fun.  It makes for very energetic photos of guests rocking out on the dance floor.

Roisin & Luis are currently on an incredible 3 week honeymoon to Greece, Croatia, and Montenegro.  We wanted to surprise them with a sneak peek preview.  Roisin and Luis requested a more vintage look to their wedding images.  Roisin in particular is really drawn to more pastel colors and loves the look of images from the 70s.  We combined this color palette with our style and produced work with a rather particular look.

Thank you to all the vendors for making Roisin & Luis’ wedding a huge success.  And thank you to Stephanie with Steph Studios for coming out to the reception in advance to capture all the incredible details.

Emily Turns 1

From Diana & Bryan’s maternity session at our original photography studio, to their daughter Emily’s newborn, 6 month, and now 1 year photos, it has been such a treat documenting this momentous time.  Emily has grown so quickly which is something really fun to observe through all the photos.

Diana & Bryan recently came by our new photography studio in SE Portland for Emily’s 1 year photo session.  Diana brought some really cute outfits and an array of unique props.  Here are some of our favorites from Emily’s 1 year session.

Stay tuned for images from Emily’s 1st birthday party celebration coming soon!

Braedon Turns 2

Kari and Mike’s son Braedon is one of the cutest most adventurous boys I have ever photographed.  We all met up at Hoyt Arboretum to document Braedon’s 2 year session.

From the moment we arrived, he took off running to explore all the exciting sights at the park.  He was running this way and that way, finding all sorts of neat things to pick up, and absolutely loved the little fountain at the park.

As Braedon approached a set of stairs, I asked Kari and Mike how he did with them.  They just laughed and when I turned around, Braedon was literally running right up them.  His feet carry himself a bit quicker than the rest of his body and whenever he would tumble to the ground he would quickly wipe himself off and start running again!

Braedon’s 2 year session was a lot of fun.  It captures this highly exciting time in his life when the world is a complete wonder.

Alicia & Robert | June 22, 2013

Alicia & Robert were married on June 22, 2013 at Bella Via in Sherwood, Oregon.  The building has beautiful stained glass windows and many elements that date back to the early to mid 1900s.

The wedding was meticulously orchestrated by a team of coordinators from Champagne Wedding & Events.  I don’t know if I have ever photographed a wedding that ran as efficiently and on time throughout the entire day.

Flowers were provided by Jordan with Blum Floral Design.  Navy blue, deep burgundy reds, and soft white accents were seen throughout the ceremony and reception areas.  Event Team Entertainment provided the DJ services for the evening and played a very fun game with the guests.  Instead of simply announcing each table up to the buffet area, Marc would ask each table a question about the couple.  The table would have to guess the answer and then Alicia & Rob would flash a card to indicate the correct response.  If the table guessed correctly, they were released to the buffet.  If the table guessed incorrectly, they would have to wait for another chance before being released for dinner.  It was a fun interactive way to engage the crowd and manage the flow of traffic to the buffet table.

Alicia & Rob created a fun send off from their wedding by giving their guests glow sticks to twirl in the air as the couple exited the venue and rode off into the evening in a classic Bentley getaway car.

Congratulations to Alicia & Rob!
