Owen Turns 1

One of my favorite things about owning a photography studio is capturing newborn and 1 year old sessions.  It amazes me every time to see how much the little ones grow in their first year.  Owen recently visited us at the studio for his 1 year session.  He loved looking out the window and seeing all the cars and trucks.  He also had a particular interest in seeing images of himself on the back of my camera.  It is one of the best aspects of digital photography.  It satisfies the curiosity of everyone and is such an immediate experience of something that has just happened.

Here are some of our favorites from Owen’s 1 year session:

Family Portraits in Maui

It’s photo opportunities like these that make me pinch myself about being a photographer.  This isn’t a dream – I actually get to make a living capturing beautiful candid moments at weddings and amongst family members.  I photographed Beth & Nate’s wedding in Portland back in 2008.  Since then, in addition to seeing them at a number of weddings (we’re kinda like part of the family now), we have also photographed them with their twin boys in Portland, Oahu, and now Maui.

Here are some of our favorites from their recent portrait session in Maui:

Hawaii – Travel Photography

One of the benefits of being a wedding photographer is owning high quality camera equipment.  I bring it with me all the time, especially when traveling.  A recent trip to Maui and the Big Island afforded me the ability to capture some fun travel images.  Watching the sun rise from an elevation of nearly 10,000 ft at the Haleakala Crater in Maui and walking the grounds of the Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden on the Big Island were highlights from the trip.

Here are some of my personal favorites:

Featured: Style Unveiled

Looking for vendors in your local area?  Style Unveiled is one of our favorite online resources for all things wedding.  Make sure to check them out!  And, they feature some of the most hip and stylish weddings around.  In fact, Style Unveiled recently featured Alix & Ryan’s wedding at The Aerie at Eagle Landing.

To see the feature and view highlights from Alix & Ryan’s wedding, make sure to check out their Portland wedding.

Alix offers up some great advice to brides and has this to say about choosing us to document her wedding day:

“During the process of looking through many, many local photographers online, I came across a few wedding photos from Paul Rich Studios. Among the nearly 50 photographers I looked at, Paul Rich’s work stood out to me the most due to the color, clarity and overall composition of his photos. Once we met with Paul, I decided right away that he was the right photographer for our wedding due to his professionalism, laid back style and his ability to listen to the details that we wanted in the photos for our wedding. We couldn’t be happier with the results of the photos from our wedding and we are so appreciative of Paul and his hard work, dedication and great attitude on that very long and crazy day :)”
