Amanda & Jordan | July 14, 2012

Amanda & Jordan’s wedding was wildly fun and entertaining.  Amanda’s aunt offered her home as a location for the couple to get married.  The property was located about a 5 minute drive down a long windy dirt road in Gaston, OR.  The drive to their wedding really set the tone for the day.  It was perfectly secluded, private, and absolutely relaxing.

The men and the women got ready inside the home and the couple chose to not see each other until the ceremony.  It was such a touching moment when Jordan got to see Amanda for the very first time.  Neither one of them could hold back their tears.  Surrounded by their closest friends and family, Amanda & Jordan exchanged their vows and sealed it with their first kiss as a newly married couple.

Following the ceremony, we had the opportunity to take some nice portraits of the couple throughout the property.  Guests mingled and enjoyed the beautiful setting.  Flower girls ran around chasing each other and the ring bearers played ball.  Freshly baked pizzas came out of the oven by Pizzacato and a fabulous mix of music was created by All Wright Music.

The dancing and festivities went well into the evening with many guests out on the dance floor showing off their finest moves.  Congratulations to Amanda & Jordan!  We are so excited to share this preliminary preview of your wedding images.

Din & Ky’s Wedding | July 7, 2012

We were honored to have the opportunity to photograph Din & Ky’s wedding on July 7, 2012.  We met the couple through Nadia with Creations by Ly.  Nadia is a wedding planner who we have worked with many times over the years and when we found out that Din was her sister-in-law, we were extra excited.  We then learned that the couple was getting married at The Oregon Golf Club, the same location where Nadia was married years ago.  So neat!  During the wedding planning process, we learned that Ky’s father is a photographer.  We were asked if it would be acceptable for him to take photos throughout the day and of course we were excited to have him along.  Ky also has a strong interest in photography and even picked up the camera a few times toward the later part of the day.  Ky is also a graduate of The Art Institute of Portland, a place that I teach part-time Intro Photo classes.  While we never met at the college, the shared experience of having been there was a nice additional connection.

Din & Ky created a very fun atmosphere for their guests sparing no detail when it came to entertainment.  There were boardgames, a Playstation area, extra finger food for the kids, and a Star Wars theme that ran throughout the day.  Ky’s entrance into the wedding ceremony was set to Star Wars themed music.  His boutonnière was custom made by Creations by Ly to include a Darth Vader figure.  Various Star Wars figures were placed throughout the reception area from the bar to the floral centerpieces at each table.  And to top it all off, they even had a Star Wars themed photo booth.

Thank you to Nadia and Amber with Creations by Ly for coordinating such a wonderful event.  Rosie with Studio Luxe provided the make up and Evolution Hair Design did the hair.  All the floral and event coordination was done by Creations by Ly and Marc with Event Team Productions provided exceptional music throughout the evening.  Dream Cakes provided an array of cupcakes for dessert and the specially themed Star Wars wedding cake.

Thank you to all the vendors and congratulations to Din & Ky!  Your entire gallery of images will be live by the end of this week.  Here is a preliminary peek at what’s to come:

Natalie & Admir | July 6, 2012

We had the exciting opportunity to travel overseas and visit some incredible locations throughout Europe.  The vacation was perfectly planned just prior to the official start of wedding season in the Pacific Northwest.  We arrived back in town at the beginning of July and were honored to photograph Natalie and Admir’s wedding at The Marshall House in Vancouver, WA.  We originally met the couple through Jennie with Magnifique Boutique who was the couple’s wedding planner.  It is always a pleasure working with Jennie and her crew.  When she is on board, everything is set and ready to go and the day flows together effortlessly.  Jennie also has a knack for putting together a great team of vendors.  Lisa with Bloomsberry Floral provided all the flowers, Jutta with La Joconde provided the scrumptious cake, Duo Con Brio provided live music during the ceremony and reception, and Roger with Moore Creative Weddings officiated the wedding.  A special thanks to all the vendors who assisted in making Natalie and Admir’s wedding a huge success.

Traditional Navajo Wedding Ceremony

We are proud members of My Portland Photographer, a blog dedicated to showcasing the work of some of Portland’s most experienced wedding photographers.  The blog is freshly updated with new content every week day.  Many of us use the blog to highlight current work or to talk about the importance of a particular image.  It is truly one of the best resources for locating a wedding photographer and is a great way to stay up-to-date on the local wedding scene.

Our designated day of the week to post each week is on Tuesdays.  So, for those of you who are interested, make sure to check back regularly and see the work that we post.  We make our best effort to keep the work interesting and engaging and this week is certainly no different.  Just this past week, we had the privilege of photographing a traditional Navajo wedding ceremony.  While we would love to show you a ton of images from this wedding, it is peak wedding season.  So, we are working away on a large volume of images from a number of weddings.  My Portland Photographer, however, is the perfect outlet for us to share at least one highlight from the wedding.  The image is below, but make sure to check out our post as well.  It explains the flow of a traditional Navajo wedding ceremony.

Carter’s 1 Year Session

Documenting a baby’s first year is one of the most exciting portrait opportunities for us and watching Carter grow up over this past year has been such a treat.  He officially turned 1 on June 15th.  Check out highlights from his newborn session.  We personalized the session by doing it at home and then changed gears for Carter’s 1 year session by choosing Laurelhurst Park.  Carter was completely enamored with the ducks in the pond and all the big dogs walking through the park.  He also really enjoyed the swing set and watching all the older kids running around and making noises.  He got to go down the big slide with his dad and read a fun book with his mom.  It was an action packed afternoon and a really fun way to celebrate Carter’s first year.  Here are some of our favorites from the recent session:

Baby Emily | Newborn Session

Diana and Bryan welcomed their daughter Emily into the world on June 27, 2012 at 6:28pm.  She was 7 lbs 7 oz and 20 inches long.  Within days of her arrival, we had the honor of capturing her newborn photos at the studio.  She was such a good sleeper and didn’t even mind all the outfit changes.  Toward the end of the session, I wanted to make sure to get a good handful of images of Diana and Bryan with their newborn daughter.  While taking some of these images, Emily let out a great big yawn.  It made for one of my favorite images from the entire session (mom, dad, and sleepy daughter).  Congratulations to Diana and Bryan.  We look forward to seeing Emily again for her 6 and 12 month photo sessions.
