Pumpkin Patch Portrait Party

Our most recently hosted Pumpkin Patch Portrait Party was a smashing hit.  Couples, little ones, and even Lucy the dog came out for this event.  We were surrounded by hay and corn fields and flowers and lots and lots of pumpkins.  Kruger’s Farm was the location for this year’s Pumpkin Patch Portrait Party.  Thank you to everyone who was able to make it out to the party.

Interested in hosting a party of your own?

A portrait party is an event hosted in your home or a near by location where Paul Rich Studio will take professional portraits for you and 4-7 of your friends in 30 minute mini-sessions.  Portrait Parties are hosted by one person who provides the location and coordinates the event.  In exchange, the Portland Portrait Party host receives a complimentary 30 minute mini-session and complimentary 8×10 gift print.  In addition, the host receives a $10 print credit for every portrait session that is booked for the party.  Fill all 7 session time slots and receive a whopping $100 print credit.  Hosting one of these events is a great way to receive free photography.

Here is what is included for each member who attends the party:

•                One 30 minute custom photo session (*up to 4 people)

•                One 8×10 Gift Print

•                Online Viewing Gallery (active for 14 days)

Tiffany & William | September 25, 2010

I love photographing weddings throughout Oregon and always appreciate when a wedding assignment takes me out of town as well.  Tiffany & William were married at Cedarbrook Lodge in Seattle, WA on September 25, 2010.  While the day of the wedding was perfectly sunny and warm, the days leading up to the wedding were a bit less desirable and left the outdoor terrace area a bit too soggy for an outdoor wedding.  So, a final decision was made to host the wedding ceremony indoors.  However, that did not stop us from taking plenty of photos outdoors.

Tiffany & William were very kind to consider me an out-of-town guest and when I checked into the hotel the evening before, a welcome bag was waiting for me.  The honey roasted peanuts, key lime coolers, and fresh fruit provided me with the exact energy I needed for the big wedding day.  I made sure to save the bottle of wine for after the wedding – I promise!!

Thank you Tiffany & William for the opportunity to document your wedding day.  It has been a pleasure working with the two of you and I am going to miss my trips up to Seattle.

Make sure to check out Tiffany & William’s wedding slideshow for more.

Engagement Session | Angela & Ryan

I have a confession to make.  I love Angela & Ryan’s engagement photos.  We had so much fun, the weather was absolutely perfect, and the entire session took place just blocks away from their amazing loft in the Pearl District.  We had the chance to simply stroll throughout the Pearl and take pictures.  It just so happens to also be one of my favorite locations for engagement sessions.  There is such a tremendous amount of variety in such a small area.  It is a photographer’s dream.  It’s also a photographer’s dream to work with such a fun out-going couple.

Just before starting the session, Angela & Ryan approached me with a bottle of wine and glasses.  They asked if they could possibly sip some wine during the shoot to help loosen them up.  Apparently they were a bit nervous about having their picture taken.  Well, just minutes into the shoot, Angela & Ryan loosened up and became very playful in front of the camera.  They are naturals.  And we hadn’t even tapped into the wine yet!  Then, about half way through the session, I recommended that we head back to their place for a quick outfit change.  When we went upstairs, I just knew that I had to capture them in their home.  It was the perfect setting and a great way to incorporate something a little different into the session.

Thank you Angela & Ryan for such a fun afternoon.  We cannot wait for your wedding in December!

Julie & Kyle | September 18, 2010

When you live in Oregon, you just never know what the weather is going to do this time of year.  You have to prepare for anything.  So, when the forecast called for rain and it ACTUALLY did rain, multiple tents were set up for Julie & Kyle’s intimate backyard wedding.  Just moments before the ceremony, we noticed that the ground was becoming a bit saturated with water.  So, out came the carpet so Julie’s dress would stay as dry as possible.  And a family member was even kind enough to hold an umbrella for the couple during the ceremony.  Its moments like these, with close family and friends gathered around and helping out that makes weddings like these so special.

September 18th is a very important date for Julie & Kyle.  They chose this date because it is exactly one year from the day they were officially married.  So their wedding celebration occurred on their 1 year anniversary.  What a fun way to celebrate!

A special thanks to fellow My Portland Photographer Jessica Hill for providing additional photographic coverage of the day.

Congratulations to Julie & Kyle!

Identical Twins

Those of you who know me, know that I love identical twins.  I find them to be absolutely fascinating.  Seeing two individuals who appear so similar visually but who have unique and distinct personalities is something that keeps me returning to identical twins.  It is a subject that I have explored in my personal work dating back to my college years.  So having the opportunity to document August & William was an opportunity I very much treasured.

We met August & William’s parents, Beth & Nate, back in 2008 when we photographed their very memorable wedding on September 13th of that year.  While we have since photographed Beth’s cousin Jamie’s wedding as well as her cousin Julie’s wedding, this time it was about documenting the newest additions to the family.  Beth & Nate flew in from Oahu where they live and Nate’s parents drove in from Utah, for all of us to meet in Portland with Beth’s parents for a fun afternoon at Cathedral Park.  The boys got to run around, splash in some puddles, pull mom’s hair, scratch dad’s face, make a big mess, and be photographed all at the same time.  You know….typical stuff.

Here are a selection of our favorites from the most recent portrait session.  We will be flying out to Oahu in just a couple of weeks to document a wedding and to photograph the twins on their turf.  Looking forward to some sun, some sandy beaches, and some hang time with the boys.

Identical Twins in Oahu » Paul Rich Studio - December 2, 2010 - 6:44 pm

[…] Back in September, I had the opportunity to meet up with Beth & Nate (a couple whose wedding we photographed back in 2008) to document them with their parents and the newest addition to the family — August & William.  We met at Cathedral Park for the portrait session and it was the first time I had the chance to meet the twins.  Highlights from the session can be viewed HERE. Betsy & Ben | September 12, 2010

Betsy & Ben were married at the Historic Deepwood Estate in Salem, OR on September 12, 2010.  The Queen Anne Victorian Home is located on approximately 4 acres of beautifully manicured gardens and nature trails with luscious greenery throughout.  It is a wonderful location for a wedding and possesses many photographic opportunities.

Following the ceremony, guests walked to an adjoining garden area for the reception.  The sun soaked Sunday afternoon was absolutely lovely and filled with some highly entertaining moments.  While playing around, one of the wedding guests fell backwards out of their chair.  Thankfully no one was hurt, but what makes the story so humorous is that the gentleman who fell works for OSHA.  The jokes began to flow immediately.  Then, Betsy lined up for the bouquet toss and when she threw the bouquet it got caught up in the tree branches.  Ben was kind enough to climb up and retrieve it but seeing it stuck up in the tree was quite a sight.  I guess this means the tree is next to marry…  Worry not.  Betsy’s second attempt was quite successful.

A special thanks to Jasmine Photography (a fellow My Portland Photographer) for providing additional photographic coverage of the day.

Congratulations to Betsy & Ben!  Make sure to check out their incredible wedding slideshow.

Lizzie & Andrew | September 11, 2010

I am absolutely ecstatic about Lizzie & Andrew’s wedding at Meriwether’s Skyline Farm.  The farm provides all of the produce for Meriwether’s Restaurant in downtown Portland and makes a wonderful location for a wedding.  There is something extra special about eating food that is grown just feet away.

The day began at the Inn at Northrup Station where both Lizzie and Andrew got ready.  The punchy colors and eclectic decor were very whimsical and a total treat to photograph.  If you are looking for a fun location to get ready — this is it!

Lizzie and Andrew were then separately transported to the farm for their first look and a brilliantly planned one hour photo session together — all to occur before any guests arrived.  The results are absolutely breathtaking and it was such a treat to have the creative freedom and time to be playful and fun.  Thank you Lizzie and Andrew for the wonderful opportunity to document your special day.  And a special thanks to Rachelle and her team with Champagne Wedding & Events.  It is always a pleasure working with you.

Treat yourself by watching Lizzie & Andrew’s wedding slideshow.
