Erica & Matthew | August 27, 2010

Erica & Matthew exchanged vows at the First Baptist Church in downtown Portland on August 27, 2010.  We had the opportunity to create a fun mix of more traditional portraits up by the alter coupled with hip urban shots outdoors.  Erica & Matthew were very playful in front of the camera and we even had the chance to stop some traffic.  I always enjoy doing that!

Following the ceremony, guests headed over to the Heritage Ballroom at the Governor Hotel for the reception.  The room is over 6000 square feet with a sweeping 35 foot ceiling.  It is truly an incredible location to photograph.  A special thanks to Anthony with A Sound Choice Entertainment for keeping the party going well into the evening.  He has a talent for keeping everyone on the dance floor.

Congratulations to Erica & Matthew.  Make sure to check out the couple’s sneak peek slideshow.

Joan & James | A Portland Luau

To say that I am excited for Joan & James’ destination wedding is an understatement.  They are getting married on November 6, 2010 in Oahu.  I have my room, hotel, and rental car reserved and can’t wait to board the plane!  Joan & James brought some of the Hawaiian energy here by throwing a Luau in Portland for local friends and family.  The event took place at the Lucky Labrador Beer Hall in NW Portland and included a totally rockin’ beach scene backdrop.  It made it like we were right there, kickin’ it in the sun, in Oahu.  When I closed my eyes, I could really feel it!  Can’t wait for November…

Krista & Eric | August 21, 2010

Krista has a real affinity for the Portland skyline and bridges so it was no wonder that she and Eric chose the RiverPlace Hotel for their wedding.  The ceremony was held outdoors in the Riverview Courtyard with a gorgeous sweeping view of all that Portland has to offer.  Krista & Eric were married on August 21, 2010 back when the sun would come out and warm your body all over.  Remember that just a few weeks ago?!?!?!  To symbolize their union as a family, Krista gave Eric and his son Zach special matching bracelets.  We then headed off over the bridge to capture some additional photos of the newlyweds using the Hawthorne Bridge as our backdrop.

Make sure not to miss Krista & Eric’s sneak peek slideshow.

Portland Maternity Session

We were in the studio this week for R & M’s maternity session.  They brought some wonderful props, my most favorite of which was a fluffy soccer ball.  Can you guess the gender?  Here is a sneak peek at some of the images from our most recent maternity session:

Portland Portrait Photography | Hunter

We have the wonderful opportunity to document Hunter as a newborn and as a 6 & 12 month “old”.  He is amazingly cute, highly energetic, and clearly still likes having his picture taken.  We recently met up with Monica & Danny at the Hoyt Arboretum for Hunter’s 6 month session.  It was such a treat getting to see him again and watch him show off his amazing sitting up skills.

Here is Hunter as a newborn:

Katie & Rich | August 20, 2010

I originally met Katie & Rich at Kristin & Chad’s wedding last year.  I remember watching them at the wedding and thinking to myself…I hope to get the opportunity to photograph their wedding someday.  Well, my wish came true!  Katie & Rich tied the knot at the beautiful Oregon Gardens on August 20, 2010.

Katie & Rich did something a little different with their wedding photography and it is something I would like to share and strongly encourage those of you looking for a wedding photographer to consider.  They added an additional hour of coverage to their photography package to devote exclusively to the two of them.  I truly cannot think of a better gift to give each other.  Katie & Rich invested in their wedding photography and in time with each other to come away with a beautiful collection of work.  The pace of the day was nice and relaxed and it opened us up to all sorts of creative options for the couple.  Kudos to Katie & Rich for making photography such an important part of your day.  And a special thanks to their close friend Megan who assumed the role of wedding coordinator and did an incredible job.  She is pictured below signing the wedding certificate as a witness.  I have to say that I have NEVER seen a coordinator do that!!

Thank you so much Katie & Rich for the opportunity to document your wedding day.  It was such a pleasure meeting both of your families and I look forward to all the exciting news that lies ahead in your lives.  I will be up in Seattle next week for a wedding and if we can align our schedules, I would love to recount your day over a couple of drinks.  🙂

Congratulations to you both!

Luciana & Ryan | August 14, 2010

We have been looking forward to Luciana & Ryan’s wedding for quite some time.  From the moment we first met (to use one of my favorite puns), we just clicked.  From the early preparations to the amazing engagement session out on Cannon Beach and all the way up to the wedding, the day just couldn’t come soon enough.

Luciana & Ryan were married on August 14, 2010 at The Grotto.  The weather was quite warm, somewhere in the mid-90s, but we managed to stay cool and certainly had a lot of fun.  Following the ceremony, we strolled through the beautiful gardens located above the dramatic rock cliff where the ceremony had taken place.  A special thanks to Andrea with August Veils for providing Ladies in Waiting service throughout the entire formals session.  Having ice water on hand was REALLY appreciated.  🙂

We then headed off to the reception at the Tiffany Center.  The couple was announced into the room and went straight into their first dance.  With Eric from All Wright Music at the helm, the party never stopped from there.  Guests filled the dance floor and busted some really groovy moves, the most notable of which came from the groom himself.

Thank you Marilyn with Portland Wedding Planner for all of your assistance throughout the day and thank you to all the vendors for making the day such a smashing success.

Check out Luciana & Ryan’s sneak peek wedding slideshow.
