Paul Rich has a natural gift for capturing real moments. Known for his ability to put his subjects at ease, he uses an artist's sense of composition with a technician's knowledge of light. Paul has a talent for quietly capturing the tender vignettes that will evoke the feeling of your event for years to come.

Paul pursued wedding photography at the early age of 13. He began working as a photographer's assistant and photographed his first wedding by the time he turned 18. While earning his degree in photography at Bard College in New York, Paul had the opportunity to study with such notable photographers as Stephen Shore, Larry Fink, Frank Gohlke, and many others.

Engagement Session | Diana & Bryan

Diana & Bryan included two of my favorite locations in their engagement session. We started off at the Hoyt Arboretum, did a quick outfit change at Washington Park, and then headed into the Pearl District for even more photos! The result is a collection of images that span from a heavily wooded area all the way to a hip urban area. It makes for a really nice mix in backgrounds and allows for a very different setting and feel to the images. I like how Diana & Bryan chose casual outfits for the Arboretum and then changed into more formal wear for the Pearl District. We ended at my favorite park in the Pearl District too — Tanner Springs.

Diana & Bryan are getting married at The Abernethy Center on September 5, 2010. We are very much looking forward to their wedding day.

Baby Olivia

Baby Olivia explodes with personality. Do something silly or make a funny face, and she just lights up with laughter. It is so sweet. She is also becoming quite the big girl these days with being able to sit up on her own. She is enamoured by just about anything you put in front of her and she really takes in the world with her eyes.

Engagement Session | Janefer & Ryan

We met Janefer & Ryan a couple of months ago at Dana & Steven’s wedding. In fact, Ryan was Steven’s Best Man (he is also his brother). Janefer & Ryan have very exciting plans for their upcoming wedding. They are getting married in Maui this September and had the opportunity to have their engagement photos taken here in Portland. The couple lives near the Park Blocks so it was a natural location for their session. Here is a selection of images from Janefer and Ryan’s recent engagement session:

Engagement Session | Aubre & Jason

Aubre and Jason are getting married on July 9, 2010 at The Oregon Golf Club and we met up yesterday for their engagement session. The session began at Willamette Park, included a visit along the water front, and concluded in the SE Industrial Area. The weather was absolutely perfect. It felt like the first day of summer and we made sure to soak in plenty of sun and even took a break for a brief drink at the Buffalo Gap Saloon & Eatery (the location of one of their first dates).

We are very excited for Aubre & Jason’s wedding which is less than a month away! Here is a sneak peek from their engagement session:
