Vendor Spotlight: Double Decker PDX

Wanna know the coolest thing in Portland right now?  It’s Double Decker PDX.  Hop on board Portland’s only luxury Double Decker charter/limousine service that provides a historic vehicle with contemporary amenities.  The fully restored 1959 two-story high bus seats about 30 people and is an absolute blast.

Need some unique transportation for your wedding?  Want an experience no one will forget?  Want to just do something a little different?  Double Decker PDX is the clear choice.

Make sure to check out their official launch at Urban Studio (206 NW 10th Ave) on Thursday July 1st from 5-9pm.  It is free and open to the public.  You have got to check out this bus.

ISES: Columbia Gorge Tour

This month’s International Special Events Society meeting was an absolute blast!  Each year the group plans a field trip excursion and this year’s event was like none other.  It began in the parking lot of Henry V where ISES members boarded the brand new Double Decker PDX Bus.  First stop — Cathedral Ridge Winery.  We had the opportunity to taste a handful of Cathedral Ridge’s wines and wander throughout the beautiful vineyard.  The views were absolutely spectacular and paired quite nicely with the wine.

During the bus ride, Wild Bill’s provided awesome entertainment with a traveling team building activity.  Everyone really had to put their thinking caps on and of course, the wine helped too.

From Cathedral Ridge Winery the next stop was Columbia Cliff Villas.  Hors d’oeuvres were provided by White Buffalo Wine Bar & Bistro and they were absolutely exquisite.  The view overlooking the Columbia River couldn’t be better.

We then walked over to the historic Columbia Gorge Hotel for champagne and desserts.  Needless to say, we were quite full and ready to make our way back in to Portland.  And the best was saved for last, when we had our final journey on the Double Decker PDX back in to town as the sun was setting.

Thank you to all the vendors who made the event such a wonderful success.

Cannon Beach Engagement Session

Our signature engagement sessions out on Cannon Beach are very popular and when you see the images from our most recent session, you will understand why.  Alexis & Cuong are getting married on July 24, 2010 and requested to have their engagement photos on the beach.  They chose a day with perfect weather and absolutely ideal lighting.  The session began at Oswald West State Park and concluded at sunset out on Cannon Beach by Haystack Rock.  The couple chose really cute outfits and had an opportunity to spend an afternoon together walking through the forest and along the Oregon coast.  We are really excited for their upcoming wedding and wanted to share a selection of images from their engagement session:

Tracy & Chris | June 15, 2010

Tracy & Chris were married at the Church of St Michael the Archangel in downtown Portland.  They were surrounded by close family and friends for a very intimate ceremony as they exchanged vows together.  Following the ceremony, we headed over to the RiverPlace Hotel for some portraits along the waterfront.  We had the opportunity to photograph Tracy’s sister’s wedding in 2008 and it was such a treat to meet Carrie & Erin’s newest addition to the family.

Cathedral Park Engagement Session

Cathedral Park is a wonderful location for portraits, especially when mixed with late day sun.  I love the descending perspective that is created from the repeating pattern of pillars that hold up the St John’s Bridge.  When you walk around the park, more and more photo opportunities emerge and the lighting is just exquisite throughout.

Over the last decade or so that I have lived in Portland, I have ALWAYS wanted the opportunity to photograph a couple on the St. John’s Bridge.  This was my perfect chance.  Here is a selection of images from a recent engagement session at Cathedral Park:
