Bartini

We have been working on some commercial assignments recently, and had the opportunity to photograph at Bartini.  The bar is adjacent to Urban Fondue in NW Portland and features over 100, creative and stunningly delicious martinis.  The service is absolutely wonderful and the waitstaff couldn’t be any more friendly.  Make sure to check out their amazing Happy Hour:

Sunday 4 pm – 11 pm (all night!)
Monday 4 pm – 12 midnight (all night!)
Tuesday – Thursday 4 pm to 6:30 pm, 9:30 pm to close
Friday & Saturday 4 pm to 6:30 pm

Sparkler Departure

Interested in an idea that is low in cost but has a high impact on your wedding photography?  Who doesn’t — right?  Well have you considered a sparkler departure?

I recently came across a wonderful website that specializes in sparklers for weddings. Sparklers online sells 10, 20, and 36 inch sparklers.  The longer the sparkler, the longer it will stay lit!  Check out their site for all sorts of creative ideas.  The other option for those of you getting married after the 4th of July, is to wait until right after the holiday.  Many locations typically slash their prices after the holiday, and it is a great way to take advantage of the bargains.  The key is to make sure you have lots of lighters so all your guests can light their sparklers at the same time.  With everyone waving their sparklers as you depart, rest assured that you will have a fantastic image of your final send off for the evening.  Here are a few recent sparkler departures that we have documented:

My Portland Photographer

My Portland Photographer is a popular resource for locating wedding photographers here in town.  The blog features the work of 20 Portland photographers with multiple posts added to the site every weekday.  Paul Rich Studio updates the blog every Tuesday and frequently includes information that is helpful with the preparation of your wedding.  This week’s post is about the importance we place on capturing the details.

To make the process of selecting a Portland wedding photographer even easier, we have recently added a link to the site that allows you to check the availability of all 20 participating photographers.  Check out the availability checker, enter in your wedding date, and see who is available for your date.  It is yet another way that we work together to make the process of planning your wedding that much easier.

Bridal Portrait

I love candid moments.  They are more often than not the most telling.  While getting ready, Alanna took a moment to view herself in the mirror.  She was so happy to finally be in her wedding dress.  The wedding day had arrived and everything was falling into place.  As she looked over her shoulder to look at her mom and bridesmaids, she noticed that I was right there taking it all in — I had even photographed her unaware as she was looking into the mirror.  But it was this image in particular that really stood out to me.  Look how relaxed and happy she is…

The power of photography is something that I will always appreciate.

Urban Fondue

If you find yourself over in the NW 21st area, make sure to swing by Urban Fondue for a truly unique dining experience.  They have an array of cheese fondues as well as numerous meat, vegetarian, and seafood fondue options.  However, make sure to save enough room for the ultimate dessert fondue experience — the raspberry swirl and banana’s foster fondues were my personal favorite.  Oh, and did I mention the drinks?  Bartini, which is adjacent to Urban Fondue, features over 100 creative and stunningly delicious martinis.  So next time you are in the neighborhood, make sure to stop by!
